Community Center Renovation in Manalapan, New Jersey

Rather than overpowering the existing structure, the renovation strengthens the original gable form and gives the building a calmer architectural identity through proportion, material texture, and restrained detailing. The natural stone grounds the building at grade, while the lighter upper façade keeps the overall expression clean, dignified, and approachable.

Inside, the section studies explore the relationship between structure, roof volume, insulation, wall assemblies, and daylight. The result is a thoughtful exterior renewal that improves the building’s civic presence while preserving its essential geometry and function as a place for gathering, learning, and community life.
